Telos Acting Studio
Our aim is to offer actors a home to practice their craft and expand their artistic abilities free from the pressures of the industry. Our culture at Telos is to inspire our actors to be socially conscious creatives, who believe that art matters and serves an important part of our culture.
The Telos Workshop
Within our weekly classes held over a seven week period, a play or playwright, is chosen to work upon. The sociological, political, psychological and philosophical ideas are explored through the actor and the text. The workshop aims to help the actor to serve the ideas underpinning a play; to connect them to something that may, perhaps, in a not insignificant way, connect us all.
These workshops will not only serve to keep acting skills sharp, but most importantly, deepen the actors process and to help develop as an artist; while being part of an artistic community that shares a common methodology and language.
The purpose of our workshops is to ask the question; What is a play? How does the play function on the level of ideas? How does the actor contribute as an artist to the ideas and problems contained within one? And what, if anything, does this contribute to the wider world?

CHARACTER ANALYSIS/MOVEMENT PSYCHOLOGY
Yat Malmgren was a singular and vastly accomplished dancer, movement director and founder of Drama Centre London, personally entrusted with the incomplete work of Rudolf Laban and William Carpenter. Developing their observations through the Jungian lense of ‘character types’; Sensing, Thinking, Intuiting and Feeling, and combining them with the Motion Factors of Weight, Space, Time and Flow; a fascinatingly rich, complex and textured approach to acting, expressive art and vision of the wider world was developed. The work gives actors a practical methodology and language to what may be described as a ‘glossary of sensations’ and specific ‘energy productions’, which evoke in the actor a potential to make a genuine inner and outer transformation.
